Move Aside Heroes – My Boys Are Miracles

Picture this.

A guy barely standing with crutches on a rainy afternoon on a slippery surface, can audit your tax returns because he is a CA

Or a guy who doesn’t have functioning hands or legs yet runs a thriving enterprise;

Or Or, a guy who had given up on life due to his disability but now plays a pivotal role in one of the leading IT companies (cough Cognizant).!!

Right, Move aside DC or Marvel Heroes!!! Because these boys would easily kick your… well you get the point.

These are the boys of Mahatma Phule Apang Prashikshan Kendra, (MPAPK). WHAT U MEAN, U STILL DON’T KNOW MPAPK??? (with eyes bulging red, the narrator exhales fumes) OK ok, I am not angry just (controls expressions by taking a long breath) I thought you’d know these seemingly ordinary disabled individuals with insurmountable willpower.

So here we go – MPAPK is an institute of individuals who are disabled, come from rural Maharashtra, and have a dream in their heart to make something of themselves. It is an institution that is run by disabled individuals for disabled individuals. It’s an institute… ( no no wait. I can do better)… it’s a family of disabled individuals who stay together and soar like an eagle in life, achieving the impossible.

The DoRBit NGO visited them on Saturday the 6th Aug and it filled our hearts with joy to be associated with this family. The campus is so beautiful, we soaked in the atmosphere the entire morning( see pics). The principal of the institute, Mr. Jagtap sir, showed us the institute and spoke about its glorious history.

He appealed to us- to be the wind under the wings of these boys, so they can fly higher. We all help them as part of the WalkABit initiative (ONLY 5Km walk on 17th Sept event) of DoRBit ( Do your Bit, for the improvement of society; I promise this is the last of the jargon); we are raising funds for these heroes with help of corporates, friends, and families.

Oh, by the way, post our visit, these students schooled the abled body visitors on cricket. There were shots fired on each part of the school by a batsman who was in a wheelchair. When these boys finally made the abled body team run every corner of the ground, they mercifully handed over the bat to the abled body team. When Milind sir from the abled body was batting, Onkar ( a guy on crutches) flew like a superman to dive and catch the ball. OUT!!! Milind sir had to be told that his jaw was still wide open, witnessing a spectacular catch.

Seriously move aside DC or Marvel Heroes!!! Because these boys are miracles.
