What a movie!!! Man! That is exactly how this review will start. Freaking awesome!
It had all the elements that I love. Amazing cars with revving engines (oh, remembering the sound of the v8 almost had me tingling again), fast car chase sequences, and indiscriminate violence in the action sequences. Most of the time, there were brilliant fight scenes while doing the car chase; oh, the delicious combo. Now if you don’t like any of this, don’t watch the movie (and delete my number because we are not friends anymore!)
Overall the movie is 5/5 for me. Let’s find out why.
How did I find out about this movie?
I quite literally stumbled upon this movie. I was browsing through the movie catalog on Prime when I saw the poster of this movie. I loved the previous Mad Max movie (2015) so I thought, let me see what this new movie offers. I think it was a blessing that I didn’t know anything about this movie. I had not even seen the trailer so I figured out everything on the go, which was exciting.
Plot review
To understand this movie’s plot, step back a bit and understand the world of Mad Max.
In the future, the world as we know has fallen. The story happens in a dystopian world. There is chaos, injustice, and suffering everywhere. We are in a radioactive Australian wasteland where everywhere you see there are dunes. Resources are scarce. There is no currency but a barter system has been established. Take a wild guess, which resources are the most precious in this barter system? Right, fresh water and food. Fresh water and food are available in limited quantity, only in one area called the citadel. Well, that was not the only area but we will get to that later. Then you need petrol/gas to fuel the cars, bikes, and trucks in this world so we have another area called the gas town. Ammunition for all those guns comes from the bullet farm area.
Now that the geography is established, Furiosa: A Mad Max saga starts in another area, the area of abundance, where everything is present in abundance. Fresh water is in the streams, lush greenery is everywhere. They had fruits hanging from the trees. This is called the green place of many mothers.
Furiosa – a girl from the green place of many mothers, gets kidnapped by the biker gang members who wish to showcase her only to Dementus- the lord of the biker gang, in hopes of rewards from him. Furiosa’s mother who was following the bikers, managed to kill the bikers who had seen the green place of many mothers but in the bid to rescue Furiosa, her mother was brutally killed by Dementus. Dementus adopts Furiosa, thinking that she will eventually reveal the direction of the green place of many mothers, the place of abundance. Furiosa wanted to avenge her mother’s death by killing Dementus.
I really like this sort of simple storyline and a clear understanding of the objective of the movie.
What all happens in between this goal? Did anyone ever go to the place of abundance? In a world ruled by grotesque men, how does Furiosa survive? You need to find out by watching the movie.
Rating (from 1 to 5):
4.5 /5
Acting review
Chris Hemsworth, you beauty- yeah Thor from the Marvel World!
He delivered one of the finest performances playing the villain Dementus. He was utterly despicable from the moment he arrived on the screen. Usually, Chris is known to play heroic characters like Thor or the soldier from Extraction movies so even though you know it is Chris, you don’t want to accept him as the villain. But he has done such a marvelous acting. I thoroughly believe that if the villain’s character is portrayed well, then the movie usually turns out to be a good one. Remember Joker from The Dark Knight movie?
Since the plot is so intriguing, the film’s protagonist has very little to do with the acting. It is pretty much as expected but there are a few scenes where you get shocked by Anya Taylor-Joy’s performance. I would also give the due credit to George Miller, the director who has masterfully told this simple story in an engaging way.
The actor who played Mary- Furiosa’s mother, also did a fab job at the beginning of the movie to connect the audience with the feeling of protecting one’s child.

Chris Hemsworth delivers 5/5.
Music review
It is to be expected that when a story is taking place in a dystopian world, the movie will have a lot of CGI involved, and a lot of action involved. I believe music plays a key role in making this world come alive. This movie is not only a treat to watch but also a treat to the ears. I would have loved to watch this movie in Dolby atoms theater, sad that it wasn’t released in India. But my edifier headphones did a pretty good job too. I loved every scene because of the music. Everything felt alive. The sand storms, the bike chases, the brutality of the fights and I think the background music hooked the audience in the story.
Last I was so enthralled by the background score of the movie was – The Dark Knight.
Tom Hulkenberg also known as Junkie xl, a Dutch composer, take a bow, sir!
Rating (from 1 to 5):
Errrrrr (screeching sound of scale breaking)
The scale broke when I tried to rate the music as 9 out of 5.
