Tom Cruise- The Maverick

Star movies. Did you recognize this name?

This legendary channel was my gateway towards awesome Hollywood movies in my childhood days.

These days were of cable, black wire running down to your TV sets. Only in the summary holidays, we were allowed the privilege to binge-watch TV. We all had democratically decided that Dad would be the dictator of our home, who would make decisions ranging from where to buy a house to when to cut the cable. So, before he used to return tired from his day at work, the afternoon was mine. I would sit in front of an LG CRT TV and watch at least 2 English movies a day. At that tender age, not sure how much I understood the plot or story or appreciated the acting and background scores, etc. but I loved actions in these movies, be it fights in the Rambo series or quick actions in Jackie Chan movies. Be Arnold punching people or Or, what I vividly remember is Tom Cruise in those early MI series or the plane fighting movie – TOP GUN.

Again, don’t remember much of it but that woosh sound as the planes would zip past the screen. So I couldn’t wait to experience it again with the new TOP GUN MAVERICK movie.

At first, I was skeptical. Before I watched it, I regretted not watching the old TOP GUN movie.

But within the first 15 minutes of the movie, I was in a trance. I didn’t have a single thought for the next couple of hours. I was invested in Pit Mitchell’s story. I cheered and clapped. There were a few scenes where my mouth was wide open in one particular scene where Maverick showed a demonstration of his plan. You know what’s going to happen yet you shift towards the edge of the seat. I punched the air when the enemy planes exploded and as the credit rolled onto the screen, I wonder if it is not too late to be a pilot.

Some points came to my mind once the movie was over; about the plot and story. But it’s TOM CRUISE. it’s entertainment and not a war documentary. That’s the answer to all your doubts.

it is not just nostalgia for which one should see this movie.

The cinematography, Tom Cruise’s smoldering look, the camaraderie between pilots and exceptional background scores and songs, the various Kawasaki bikes, Planes, brilliant absorbing action scenes such as dog fight scenes, exploding planes, plenty of woosh sounds, and did I mention Tom Crusie? I see, I did.

Cool. Many things capture you for 2 hours.

Tom Cruise, though the age is showing, still is TOM Cruise.
